Title:
Designing for Accessibility: An Interactive Workshop on Creating Digital and Physical Experiences that Meet People Where They Are
Description:
Public health is built on the concept of accessibility, but what does that mean in practice? How can we avoid "accessibility" becoming a meaningless buzzword? From the delivery channels you use to the words you choose, caring for a diverse population means designing experiences that can be accessed by someone with a disability, a resident who does not speak English, or a household without reliable wifi. As such, public health departments and their partners must be intentional when it comes to language, physical packaging, digital patient experiences, and everything in between. Join us for an interactive workshop on Designing for Accessibility, facilitated by Color's Design Technologist, Cordelia McGee-Tubb, and Director of State and Local Business Development, Nichole Pullen. During this working session, we'll cover: 1) key elements and best practices of inclusive design, 2) a demo of a physical testing kit and digital patient experience and the accessibility principles that informed their design, and 3) how to use these inclusive design strategies when building your own programs.
Our aim is to leave you with several concrete ways to write, build, package, and design with accessibility in mind in order to reach as many members of your community as possible. Hope to see you there!
